Thank you for visiting my Team Sears fundraising page! As many of my friends and family know....my family has been devastated by this horrific disease. My Aunt died of Huntington's disease. My Father was diagnosed when I was 12 years old and lived with it for 22 years. The last 10 yrs spent in a hospital bed unable to talk, walk or eat on his own. My Brother was a Doctor in the hospital a floor above him for my Dad's last 10 years. My Beautiful Sister Mary (4 years older) has been suffering from HD for many years and is confined to a hospital bed in her living room. In 2013 my Beautiful Brother John (2 yrs older) was also diagnosed with HD. He could no longer perform his duties as Head of Psychiatry and thus had to leave his beloved life of helping others. His slow decline was heartbreaking to watch....He was the most amazing person and my best friend. On July 29th 2016 My Brother took his life by jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge. He knew what he was in for and he just couldn't take it...he wanted to be Heaven with our Mother. This cause is obviously near and dear to my heart...please join us at the walk/run or donate if you can...I appreciate everyone's support! With your help, we can help HDSA achieve their mission to improve the lives of everyone with Huntington’s disease and their loved ones.

Huntington’s disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure.
HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene. Today, there are 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease.
