Support Me

Thank you so much for visiting my personal fundraising page! This is a personal mission for me. My sister, Debbie Rotberg, passed away from Huntington's Disease 4 years ago. Other family members have either passed away from this horrible disease, are gene positive and will get the disease or are at risk of getting it. With your help, we can help HDSA achieve their mission to improve the lives of everyone with Huntington’s Disease and their loved ones.

The Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) was founded in 1967 by Marjorie Guthrie, the wife of legendary folk singer/activist Woody Guthrie who died from HD when he was only 55 years of age. HDSA is the premier not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington’s Disease. From community services and education to advocacy and research, HDSA is the world’s leader in providing help for today, hope for tomorrow for people with Huntington’s Disease and their family.

Huntington’s Disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure. The symptoms of HD are described as having ALS, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases simultaneously.

HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene. Today, there are 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease.

Across the United States, HDSA currently supports:
•54 volunteer led Chapters & Affiliates
•43 Centers of Excellence
•68 Social Workers
•170 Support Groups
