Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page! With your help, we can help HDSA achieve their mission to improve the lives of everyone with Huntington’s disease and their loved ones.
My late husband “Big Bob” was in the prime of his life and suffered with HD for many years. He lost his mom, sister, aunt, cousin and grandmother from HD. Bob lost he's battle at age 54. Our oldest son Shane is fighting the last stage of HD at the age of 45. He has lost his ability to live independently and needs 24 hour care. Our youngest has the defective gene and is currently enrolled in an observational study. I’m very proud of my sons and their bravery but, at the same time my heart breaks for them and for all that suffer in the HD community. But, on a hopeful note, the scientific community has announced several promising studies and we are holding our breath and praying as these studies move forward! Your donation not only helps fund research but, helps fund support for HD families that struggle with this disease.
The Huntington’s Disease Society of America is the premier not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington’s disease. Huntington’s disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure.
HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene. Today, there are 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease.
Thank you again for taking the time to visit my site and know that any form of support is greatly appreciated!
