Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page!
As many of you know, my Mom was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease (HD) in November. HD is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years. HD is known as the quintessential family disease, because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene. Today, there are approximately 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease. There is no cure for HD.
On Saturday, October 13, I will participate in the Team Hope 5K Walk and Run. I'm sending you this email because I hope you will join me!! ( Team Hope is the Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s (HDSA) ’s signature grassroots fundraising campaign designed to provide hope and support for those touched by this devastating disease. Proceeds from Team Hope support the HDSA mission to improve the lives of people with HD and their families. From community services and education to advocacy and research, HDSA is the world’s leader in providing help for today and hope for tomorrow for people with HD and their families. Funds raised through Team Hope make HDSA’s care, education, advocacy and research programs possible in both our local community and across the country.
I hope you will walk with me on October 13th!
