This will be Team Step 'n' Fetch's fifth Charlotte's Run in memory of Rebecca Forsythe. In the last four years we were able to raise just over $8,000 to aid in finding a cure and aiding families hurt by Huntington's Disease.
Only about 30,000 people in the US are currently living with a diagnosis of HD, and because this is a genetically inherited disease, 130,000 people are considered “at risk”. These individuals are people who have a biological mother or father with the disease and either don’t know they have it, do not have it, or have not yet developed the symptoms. I inherited it from my mom, but science is getting closer to better treatments and possibly a cure.
2018 has already brought what could be the cure/treatment the entire HD community has been hinging their hopes on, and due to the rarity of the disease a lot of the funding is completely dependant on donations.
I’m so proud and humbled by the interest and money we've managed to raise and I'm especially in awe of the people in my life that made it possible to blow this fundraiser way past any goal I ever set.
Please consider donating or joining us this year and help #CureHD!
