Thank you for visiting our Team fundraising page! With your help, we can help HDSA achieve their mission to improve the lives of everyone with Huntington’s disease and their loved ones.
Our family lost Bernadette Hayes, a sister, daughter, and aunt; on October 26, 2003 to Huntington's Disease (HD) after a 14 year battle. She was misdiagnosed for years before finally a sweet Nurse had suggested that she get tested for HD. It was up until that day that our family watched her struggle and go from hospital to hospital. We will never forget the happiness she brought to our family or the struggles she endured. And we hope for a better life for all of those who are affected by HD. Through your donations her memory will live on to help those who are struggling and to one day find a cure to this fatal disease.
The Huntington’s Disease Society of America is the premier not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington’s disease. Huntington’s disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure.
HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene. Today, there are 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease.
Across the United States, HDSA currently supports: • 54 volunteer led Chapters & Affiliates • 41 Centers of Excellence • 65 Social Workers • 160 Support Groups
