I am walking again, 5th time in the Tri-city Medical Center Carlsbad Half Marathon on January 14, 2018 and want to raise funds and awareness for Huntington’s disease. HD is a devastating, hereditary, degenerative brain disorder that results in a loss of cognitive, behavioral and physical control, and for which, presently, there is no cure. I will be running for my wife dear Sheela. My goal is to raise $500!
I am also running for those 30,000 people who are diagnosed with HD, in the United States and their families (each of their siblings and children has a 50 percent risk of developing the disease, therefore 250,000 are at risk), not only because HD is inherited, but because it profoundly affects the entire family emotionally, socially and financially. HD slowly diminishes the affected individual's ability to walk, think, talk and reason. Although medications can relieve some symptoms in certain individuals, research has yet to find a means of conquering or even slowing the deadly progression of HD. But I see hopes on horizon, as they found how to mute by gene-silencing drug for HD safely, which reduced the production of the toxic HD protein. It happened because of everyone’s contribution, thank you so much!
We still are fighting against time in order to save our friends and families.
To help me again with this fight please make a donation to my page. All donations are secure and sent directly to the San Diego Chapter of the Huntington Disease Society of America by FirstGiving, who will email you a printable record of your donation. Any amount is appreciated!
Please share my page with any of your friends and family that may be inspired to donate as well.
